FAQ
Will this work on my dog's breed and coat type?
The Ardenmo comb is designed for medium to long-haired dogs and cats with a double coat or dense undercoat — breeds like Golden Retrievers, Huskies, German Shepherds, Maine Coons, and similar. If your pet has a very short single-layer coat, a standard slicker brush will serve them better.
Is it safe to use near the skin?
Yes. The teeth are shaped to move through the coat and undercoat without digging into the skin when used with normal, gentle pressure. As with any grooming tool, let the comb do the work — don't force it through heavy mats in one stroke.
How often should I groom with it?
Two to three times per week during shedding season, and once a week during quieter months, is enough for most breeds to keep the coat clear and manageable. Consistent light grooming is always easier on your pet than infrequent heavy sessions.
My pet hates being groomed. Will this be different?
A lot of grooming resistance comes from tools that pull and snag. Because the Ardenmo comb moves more smoothly through the coat than most rakes or slickers, many owners find their pets tolerate it better from the first session. Starting with short sessions and rewarding with treats helps build the habit.
How do I clean it?
Pull the collected hair out of the teeth after each use — most of it lifts out in one pull. For a deeper clean, rinse the teeth under warm water and let it air dry fully before storing. The blades won't rust with normal care.
What's the difference between the two sides?
The 9-tooth side has wider-set, slightly sharpened blades for working through mats and tangles — use this first on any knotted areas. The 17-tooth side has closer-set teeth designed to grab and remove loose undercoat efficiently — use this after the coat is clear to finish the groom and pull out the bulk of the shedding hair.
